Christina Anagnostopoulou

Christina Anagnostopoulou is an Associate Professor in music informatics and cognition at the Department of Music Studies, University of Athens. She studied Music (BMus Hons) and Artificial Intelligence <http://www.inf.ed.ac.uk> (MSc in knowledge-based systems) at the University of Edinburgh. Her PhD, also in Edinburgh, was on computational and cognitive modelling of music analysis. She has taught at the Universities of Edinburgh and Glasgow on various topics in music analysis and AI, and from 2002 to 2006 she was a lecturer at the Department of Music and Sonic Arts, <http://www.music.qub.ac.uk>, Queen’s University Belfast. During that time she led the Music Informatics and Cognition research group, and got her postgraduate qualification in Higher Education Teaching.

George Kosteletos

George Kosteletos was born in 1975 in Athens. He has a first degree in Physics(1999, Department of Physics, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens), a Master’s degree in Music Technology (2001, Music Department, University of York, UK) and a PHD in the Philosophy of Mind, Artificial Intelligence and Art (2011, sector of Philosophy, Department of Philosophy, Pedagogy and Psychology, School of Philosophy, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens) . He also has a piano diploma (2000) and a degree of higher musical theory and counterpoint (2000, 2004). He has been teaching aspects of Cognitive Science in postgraduate level for the last five years.From 2011 to 2015 he taught Neuro-ethics in the postgraduate course of Ethics (sector of Philosophy, department of Philosophy, Pedagogy and Psychology, School of Philosophy, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens) as well as Philosophy of Mind and Artificial Intelligence in a Ministry’s of Education Life Learning Program for university graduates. Since 2015 he has been teaching Music Cognition in the Music Technology Postgraduate Program of the Music Department of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens School of Philosophy.Apart from teaching Philosophy in university level, George has been teaching Physics in high-school students since 2001. From 2012 to 2014 he participated in the Do.Re.Mat. project, an international project funded by the European Community, aiming at the development of teaching methods of Mathematics via Music for 15-16years old high school students. His scientific interests involve, among others, the cognitive dimension of two characteristic aspects of human behavior, namely Ethics and Music. He has also been involved in the examination of the philosophical aspects of modern research and practice in the field of Music Technology. Since 2017 he has started a post-doctoral research (sector of Philosophy, Department of Philosophy, Pedagogy and Psychology, School of Philosophy, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens) on the cognitive relationship between Music and Ethics.
Christiana Adamopoulou

Christiana Adamopoulou studied music at Ionian University, (Corfu, Greece) and music therapy at Anglia Ruskin University (Cambridge, UK). She obtained her PhD in music therapy from Ionian University. She also holds a Piano Diploma. Christiana has twenty years’ experience in teaching music both in mainstream and special needs schools. As a practicing music therapist, she has worked primarily with children in the autistic spectrum and with children and adults with learning disabilities (“Agia Sofia” Children’s Hospital, “Lilian Voudouri” Creative Arts Therapies Institute). Her research interests cover a wide range of subjects, including music therapy with young adults, music therapy and special education, adult learning, and community music. She has also trained in group psychoanalytic psychotherapy.

Martha Papadogianni-Kouranti
PhD, Post-Doc Department of Music Studies

Martha Papadogianni-Kouranti graduated from the Department of Music Studies, NKUA and has an M.Sc. Degree from the Institute for Speech and Communication- Audiocommunication Group, Technical University of Berlin. Since 2009 she is working as a music educator in primary state schools in Athens. In Februar 2024, she completed her PhD, co-supervised by the NKUA and TU Dresden. Her inquiry focuses on auditory-tactile beat perception and sensorimotor synchronization. Her research interests fall in the area of acoustics, auditory-tactile music perception, music cognition and new technologies in music education. As a cellist, she is a member of the Intercultural Orchestra of the Learning and Participation Department of the GNO. She is currently a Post-doc researcher at the Department of Music Studies NKUA.
Ioanna Zioga

Ioanna Zioga is an Adjunct Lecturer at the Department of Music Studies, University of Athens, with specialty in the Cognitive Neuroscience of Music. She is also a scientific associate at the University Mental Health, Neurosciences and Precision Medicine Research Institute in Athens. She received her undergraduate degree from the Department of Music Studies, University of Athens. She holds an MSc in Music, Mind & Brain from Goldsmiths University of London, with distinction. She completed her PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience at Queen Mary University of London, fully-funded by a scholarship, where she investigated the relationship between music learning and creativity using electroencephalography, computational, and behavioural methods. Subsequently, she completed her first postdoc at Queen Mary, where she studied two-person brain synchronization during eye-contact. She also was a postdoctoral researcher at the Donders Institute for Cognitive Neuroimaging, Netherlands, investigating language and creativity using magnetoencephalography. She has published more than 25 papers in international peer-reviewed journals.

Antonis Alexakis
PhD Department of Music Studies NKUA

Antonis Alexakis holds a BSc in Mathematics from University of Patras, an MSc in Knowledge Based Systems from Heriot-Watt University and a PhD from the University of Athens, Dpt of Music Studies. He has an active presence in the IT industry for more than 25 years. In the past he has taken part in several EU projects (FP4 & FP5). He has taken part in MIROR project as an IT expert. His work entails mostly computational analyses of musical data. He has an interest in stringology, Machine learning and AI music related constructs.
